Frozen Shoulder Exercises (aka Exercises for Adhesive Capsulitis)
Frozen Shoulder Exercises are crucial for healing frozen shoulder, aka adhesive capusiltus.
Oddly enough it is fairly common.
Other definitions are:
Ouch! My shoulder hurts!
My arm aches!
I can’t move my arm and it hurts!
I can’t sleep at night because my shoulder hurts!
Help! What do I do?
I know, because I’ve been there. If you are wanting to know if it will get better, the answer is yes. If you want it to get better sooner, then read my story…
At first, I noticed it was every now and then kind of stiff and a little painful. So naturally, I thought I should take it easy. Wrong!
When I went to a doctor the first time, he gave me a cortisone shot that did not even help, nor did he tell me why he did that or what he was trying to treat. Since it got worse, I kept on babying it of course.
In the meantime, it hurt, my arm ached, it was worse at night, I couldn’t find a comfortble position to sleep no matter what I tried. All day long I couldn’t brush my hair, put a pullover sweater on, or even a button up blouse. I needed help putting on my coat. I couldn’t reach for something or do just normal activities without sharp and/or achy pains.
Well, a few months later I went to a different doctor. He said it was frozen shoulder. Unfortunately he was the first person to tell me that I should be trying to mobilize the shoulder, not baby it!
Okay, so he did the ‘get you into physical therapy’ routine. Yes, it helps to have others do the exercises for you, but they seemed to make it worse not better, I’m not sure why.
So I kept researching and looking for what would work and ended up with some good progress! And it wasn’t painful to do, it was all actually helpful!
Three key things worked:
- Frozen Shoulder exercises that were doable, effective and not painful.
- Accupuncture
- Arnica Cream
The frozen shoulder exercises alone were a saving grace. No more trips to be tortured in physical therapy. (I actually started to dread going to those appointments).
If you can find a decent acupuncture doctor that knows how correctly address the shoulder issues, it’s a great added benefit, but it’s not crucial to healing.
And oddly enough, Arnica cream. It is an odorless pain cream that really seemed to help. My chiropractor/acupuncturist swore by it, so I tried it. He said just slather it on generously a couple times a day, after exercises, before bed, after your morning shower, etc.
Once I got started on this regimen I had very little pain and even started getting my range of motion back.
Now you want to be doing the ‘right’ frozen shoulder exercises. At least you want to do them the ‘right’ way.
There are many causes for shoulder pain. Since I am not a doctor I recommend you get a little education on what is right for you. I’m skeptical about most doctors, so I was thrilled to find a great resource by a certified expert that takes the time to explain various causes and symptons and thoroughly explain the shoulder exercises and what to pay attention to.
His guide is called The Ultimate Frozen Shoulder Therapy Guide. (Get it for yourself by clicking on that link) You’ll be thankful to meet Brian and let him guide you. It’s actually quite inexpensive, he offers a money back guarentee, and it’s all you will need to get your own shoulder exercises regimen going and the healing started properly!
I hope this helps. Again, myBIGGEST mistake was NOT doing the frozen shoulder exercises, it really prolonged and worsened the frozen shoulder.
